Metro investigating murder-suicide in southwest Las Vegas

A teenager who heard gunshots inside his southwest Las Vegas house this morning stepped outside his bedroom to find his parents fatally shot from what Metro Police are calling a murder-suicide.

Lt. Ray Spencer said that a man shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself.

The shooting was reported about 7:45 a.m. in a two-story house in the 9200 block of South Park Street, near Blue Diamond and Fort Apache roads, Spencer said.

The victim was found in an upstairs hallway and the shooter downstairs, Spencer said. The gunfire preceded some sort of argument, he said.

The investigation remained in its preliminary stages, but Spencer said detectives were speaking to family members to probe “prior family dynamics on what led to the shooting.”

The Trauma Intervention Program of Southern Nevada responded to the scene, Spencer said.
