When guests arrive at Resorts World in Las Vegas, they are greeted in the lobby by three artificial intelligence-powered puppies — Sinatra, Stardust and Elvis.

The robotic companions, which are housed in custom-built playpens, were built with Sony’s latest technology and are part of its aibo series of AI dogs, officials said in a news release. They debuted this week.

“As we continue to explore a variety of tech-forward offerings for the property, we were excited to learn about this advanced AI technology and knew it would be a fun added touch for our guests,” Resorts World President Scott Sibella said in a statement.

The robot puppies are programmed to wag their tails, twitch their eyes and ears, and make sounds similar to an actual animal. They are brought to life, using sensors and actuators, moving through the lobby and almost encouraging guests to pet them.

“We can’t wait to see the joy these robotic puppies bring to our visitors as they arrive to our Las Vegas lobby,” Sibella said.
