Suspected DUI driver who hit 2 pedestrians lied about identity, police say

A Las Vegas woman arrested last month in connection with a hit-and-run that injured two pedestrians was suspected of driving under the influence of an unknown narcotic and lied to officers about her identity because she was on probation, according to a report from Metro Police.

Ashleigh Niclo Bacon, 33, was arrested on Aug. 14 and booked at the Clark County Detention Center after she was released from the hospital for an injury sustained in the collision — when she hopped the barbed-wire fence of a strip club near the site of the crash. She was arrested on suspicion of DUI, reckless driving, violation of parole and failing to stop at an accident, among other things, according to the arrest report.

One male pedestrian, unnamed in the report, lost his left arm as a result of the collision, and an unnamed female pedestrian sustained a broken left arm. Both were taken to University Medical Center for treatment, according to the report.

Officers arrived at the intersection of Valley View Boulevard and Russell Road at 4:40 p.m. Aug. 14 to a scene where the pedestrians were struck in the southeast corner of the intersection. The driver — later identified as Bacon — fled the scene, according to the report.

Police stopped Bacon near the Crazy Horse strip club, east of the collision scene, and while talking with officers produced a false name, according to the report. Bacon continued to use a fake name during the interaction, police said. She then allegedly made up a story about how she received the cut on her leg, police said.

After an officer told Bacon to stop lying, she disclosed her real name and admitted to driving the vehicle during the collision, according to the report. She said she provided an old friend’s name initially because she was afraid of violating parole.

Bacon said she hit the pedestrians while driving south on Valley View, trying to turn east on Russell, police said. The report states she was traveling at a high rate of speed and also struck a light pole after she struck the pedestrians.

Bacon was taken to the hospital to treat the cut on her leg. There, she refused a blood test from officers to determine if she was under the influence, but she failed other field sobriety tests, police said.

She was placed under arrest after being released from UMC, according to the release. She remains in custody at CCDC, according to online records. Bacon has a preliminary hearing scheduled in October, according to court records.
