Officials contain vegetation fire at Wetlands Park

The Clark County Fire Department and other firefighting agencies worked today to battle a blaze at Wetlands Park in the southeast valley, officials said.

Officials fielded multiple calls to report the fire shortly after 2 p.m., spokeswoman Kelly Blackmon said in a news release.

Fire officials deemed it a vegetation fire, and Las Vegas Fire and Rescue as well as the Las Vegas Interagency Communication Center were called to assist.

Crews were able to contain the blaze to about 3.5 acres, Blackmon said. No bridges or structures were lost and nobody was reported injured. One small animal was lost in the fire.

A total of 40 fire personnel were called to the scene, including one truck, six engines, two rescues and a water tender, Blackmon said. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
