Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday for the primary election in Clark County, where there are 84 contested races with 340 candidates to choose. The primary will pave the way to what is expected to be a historic, significant midterm election in November. Many nationally are keeping an eye on what’s happening here, as Republicans have a chance to flip control of the U.S. House and the Senate if they win Nevada’s congressional seats, most of which are now held by Democrats. Some important notes as you head to the polls:
— Take your mail ballot with you to the voting site and surrender it. If you forget to bring it with you, you’ll be asked to sign an affidavit saying that you attest that you have not voted previously under penalty of perjury.
— You can also drop off your completed mail ballot at the polling site, as each location will have a drop box.
— Nevada is a same-day voter registration state, which means you can register the same day you go to vote. You’ll need to bring a valid Nevada driver’s license or ID card, and you must vote in-person at a polling location. If your driver’s license or ID card does not have your current residential address, you will need to present a valid proof of residence.
