When Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak was in office, I called for help on two veterans issues.
In both cases, I asked the governor to appoint a veteran to handle veterans’ requests for help. I never even got a call back from his office, and my requests were a waste of time.
Recently, a Republican, Joe Lombardo, was elected and now serves as governor. I decided to call his office and make the same request for a veteran to be hired to handle veterans’ help requests.
Surprise, surprise, I got the same answer: none. It seems as if I have accidentally discovered one thing both parties agree on in Nevada — ignore veterans, but act like you love us on Veterans Day.
