Police: Las Vegas bicyclist killed in crash with SUV

A bicyclist died Monday night after he pulled into the path of an SUV and was struck, according to Metro Police.

The incident happened about 8:50 p.m. on Cheyenne Avenue, east of Hualapai Way, police said.

The bicyclist, a 22-year-old Las Vegas man, was riding through a parking lot before he pulled into the street and into the path of the SUV, police said.

The cyclist, whose name was not released pending notification of his family, was taken to University Medical Center, where he died, police said.

The driver of the SUV, a 39-year-old Las Vegas woman, was not injured and remained at the scene, police said.

Impairment is not suspected to have contributed to the cause of the crash, police said.

The cyclist’s death marked the 52nd traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
