Charo joins Tony Sacca for PBS fundraiser

International star Charo and Las Vegas entertainer Tony Sacca combine their star power next week for a worthy cause — raising money for PBS.

Sacca is going through 23 years of taped interviews from his syndicated television series, selecting footage that will air in November on a PBS special entitled “The Best of Entertainment Las Vegas Style.” Over the years Sacca has interviewed hundreds of top performers, from Donna Summer to Joe Williams to the Smothers Brothers.

Charo has been a frequent guest on Sacca’s show and will co-host the PBS special, which will be taped at various locations on Monday and Tuesday.

“When I was presented with the idea of a special I was asked to invite a co-host that would have national recognition, extremely entertaining and who has had a long history of appearing in Las Vegas, Charo came to my mind,” said Sacca, who is producing as well as co-hosting the production. “She has appeared several times on my TV shows as well as my television Christmas special ‘Merry Christmas Las Vegas.’ ”

As part of the special, Charo will perform songs from her newest CD “España Cañi,” on the sidewalk in front of the Bellagio fountains. The performance will be at about 7 p.m. Monday. She will be accompanied by three dancers.

The pledge drive is being co-sponsored by The Motion Picture Movie Hall of Fame and PBS.

For fans who would like to watch the taping, the schedule is:

Monday: 10 a.m., Venetian gondola ride; noon, Palazzo fountain; 7 p.m., Bellagio fountains.

Tuesday: 9 a.m., New York-New York Walk of Stars; 11 a.m., MGM Grand Hollywood Theater ticket booth; 8 p.m. , Fremont Street Experience.
