Findlay forward Rudd to UNLV? Definitely maybe, he says

High-flying Findlay College Prep forward Victor Rudd said after practice Tuesday he might very well play at UNLV next fall.

Or Oregon State. Or Arizona. Or Gonzaga. Or Marquette.

Memphis coach John Calipari, Rudd said, offered him a scholarhip Monday. Providence has slipped into the picture while USC seems to have slipped out.

“It doesn’t matter to me,” Rudd said. “It doesn’t matter.”

As Rudd wants to completely focus on the season for the 21-0 Pilots, ranked second in USA Today’s national Super 25 poll, his recruiting process seems to become hazier by the week.

He wanted to get his ACT and SAT exams out of the way, but even those have been delayed because of Findlay’s extensive travel schedule.

The Pilots participate in a tournament in Montverde, Fla., this weekend.

Rudd wants to take official visits to Arizona, Oregon State and UNLV – he dropped by a Rebels practice a few weeks ago in an unofficial visit – but has not scheduled any trips.

He said it’s possible he could pick a school without making an official visit to it.

“And I don’t have an order,” Rudd said. “I’m just playing right now. I’m not worried. I’m just trying to win.”

He said he noticed that the Rebels won at BYU last week and upended Utah at the Thomas & Mack Center on Saturday.

“That was good. They’re playing real well right now, real well,” Rudd said. “If they keep that up, that’s good. I get e-mails from coach (Lon Kruger) after every win and every loss.”

He also saw the scores of defeats at TCU and Colorado State.

“Those were terrible, but they’re stepping it up now,” Rudd said. “They’re playing well.”

Rudd had wanted to play at Washington, but that got quashed in October when Tacoma (Wash.) Bellarmine Prep guard Abdul Gaddy switched from Arizona, when Lute Olson retired, to the Huskies.

“That would have been my scholarship,” Rudd said.

Washington coach Lorenzo Romar had watched the Pilots practice last fall.

Rudd, a native of the San Fernando Valley north of Los Angeles, had a message for UNLV fans.

“I love UNLV,” he said. “Tell everybody I love UNLV. UNLV is definitely on my top six.”

Rudd said he will likely just wake up sometime, in a few days, a few weeks or a month, and know exactly where he wants to go.

“We just have to see,” he said. “I like UNLV. It’s not like I’m not liking them. I like UNLV a lot. It’s a good chance I’ll go … ”

To UNLV?

“Yeah.”
