High School Football Picks: Week 3

The Cleat Game 2012

Leila Navidi

Chaparral players celebrate defeating Eldorado 52-14 in the Cleat Game at Chaparral High School in Las Vegas on Friday, September 14.

It’s one of the most notable high school football games of the season in Las Vegas.

The Cleat Game between Chaparral and Eldorado has been played since the 1970s, when Los Angeles Rams great Merlin Olsen donated his cleat for the game. The cleat is bronzed and given to the winning team to store in its trophy case until the following year.

Our weekly prep football picks column predicts the rivalry game and others on the Week 3 slate. The column has a 19-5 record after two weeks, including going 6-4 last week.
