It’s the fourth week of the high school football season. Well, unless you are the Pahrump Valley Trojans.
After having two games canceled out of safety concerns after a positive COVID-19 test — and not necessarily within their program — the Trojans on Friday will host Virgin Valley in the season opener.
The week’s slate of games is highlighted by the Polynesian Football Classic, where Desert Pines, Liberty and Bishop Gorman each face out-of-town opponents.
We predict all the games below, hoping to build off an 8-4 record in Week 3 and 27-9 overall mark.
Basic at Foothill
Foothill rides Kendric Thomas to a Battle for Boulder Highway win. Foothill 32, Basic 29
Orem (Utah) vs. Desert Pines
I don’t care that DP hasn’t played (and barely practiced) in the last two weeks. Jags love the spotlight. Desert Pines 36, Orem 13
Mater Dei vs. Liberty
Closer than you think. Mater Dei 43, Liberty 34
Lone Peak at Bishop Gorman
Wouldn’t be surprised if Gorman went undefeated. Gorman 39, Lone Peak 13
Silverado at Sierra Vista
Could Silverado also be on its way to an undefeated season? Silverado 42, Sierra Vista 0
Centennial at Arbor View
This game all about revenge for Arbor View. Aggies make a statement. Arbor View 30, Centennial 13
Green Valley at Coronado
Despite loss to Palo Verde I’m still high on Green Valley. Green Valley 26, Coronado 24
Eldorado at Western
Anyone have a coin. Eldorado 23, Western 19
Shadow Ridge at Palo Verde
We’ve seen this movie before. Palo Verde again the better team. Palo Verde 22, Shadow Ridge 17
Durango at Spring Valley
This will be the tightest game of the week. Durango 16, Spring Valley 15
Columbine (Colo.) at Faith Lutheran
Top Colorado program grabs road win in Las Vegas. Columbine 33, Faith Lutheran 29
Las Vegas at Chaparral
Tough spot for my Cowboys. Las Vegas 41, Chaparral 12
Virgin Valley at Pahrump Valley
Pahrump is the last team in Nevada (and maybe America) to open the season. Virgin Valley 32, Pahrump 12
Bonanza at Desert Oasis
Desert Oasis could be a sleeper in the class 4A. I wouldn’t want to face Stott in an elimination game. Desert Oasis 43, Bonanza 6
Rancho vs. Slam
Back to back wins for Slam. Slam 20, Rancho 12
