Local Web developer makes it big

There are quite a few well-known people who either live, work or play in our community. Today, I’d like to introduce you to one who has put Henderson on the map internationally. Web developer Anthony Decena, principal and chief technology officer of Mindelusions, Inc., is also a life-long Henderson resident and graduate of Basic High School has done just that. His biggest client is the Estee Lauder Companies.

As a Web developer, Decena has developed www.bumbleandbumble.com, www.esteelauder.com, and www.maccosmetics.com, which are Web sites for high-end cosmetics brands.

“I also try and keep a client base of local businesses trying to either take their products or services online for the first time, or update their current Web presence to something more in tune with today’s Internet experience,” says Decena.

Some of the local businesses he has worked with recently are Paradise Bay Pet Resort, Vegas Tax Solutions, Cheesecake & Crime (which, sadly, went out of business in March), and Imagika Productions.

When I asked Decena how he feels about starting a business in the city he grew up in, he had this to say:

“It was a beautiful thing. Turning that business into a profitable company is one of the greatest things that could have ever happened, and growing up here had a lot to do with that.”

In the age of computers, wireless devices, and a new generation of folks who turn to the Internet for their information, Decena sees where businesses can profit from the Internet.

“No matter what type of shop, business, or company that you run, if you do not have an Internet presence, you do not exist,” says Decena. “It is very hard to convince a struggling bakery to stop advertising in the yellow pages and to build a Web site.”

Decena says it is because of small local businesses that he was able to create Mindelusions, Inc. and take it to the level of hosting an international company like ELC, Inc.

“I have big plans for the next steps that Mindelusions will take, but I will always take the time to help a local business take their services to the Web,” says Decena.
