It’s bye-bye, Coco Austin, and bye-bye, “Peepshow.”

The city’s grandest striptease production is ending its run at Planet Hollywood on Labor Day Weekend, Base Entertainment announced late Tuesday night. Its final show is set for Sept. 1.

“We are extremely grateful to all of those who have had a hand in making ‘Peepshow’ a huge success at Planet Hollywood,” said Scott Zeiger of Base Entertainment, the show’s production company. “ ‘Peepshow’ broke new ground in the world of the Las Vegas topless show; the first to be a full-throttle production show, it reinvented the iconic Las Vegas showgirl in a way that both celebrated and empowered women.”

Putting an adult flair on scenes based on famous nursery rhymes and children’s tales, the show opened in April 2009 and was the production that first put Holly Madison on a Vegas stage. Mel B. and Kelly Monaco fronted the opening cast. Madison took over the role as Bo Peep for a little more than three years in July 2009. Aubrey O’Day and Shoshana Bean also were featured in the performance.

The difficulty in finding a suitable replacement for Austin, whose contract extension to star as Bo Peep ends as the show closes, was a concern from producers. Recruiting a big-name performer willing to perform topless in a full-scale Strip production show has been a challenge for producers.

“Peepshow” will have performed 1,500 shows by the time it closes in September.

“It has been an amazing journey for the whole ‘Peepshow’ team,” said the show’s director, Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell. “I couldn’t be more proud of the remarkable cast and crew for all of their hard work, passion and support in making what was once a dream an incredible reality.”
