For the second time in six months, a performance by Janet Jackson on the Strip has been called off.
Jackson’s May 14 show at T-Mobile Arena has been postponed, according to a statement issued today on behalf of the venue and concert promotor Live Nation. Jackson, 49, said on a video posted on Twitter that her entire “Unbreakable Tour” has been canceled so that she can start a family.
“We’re in the second leg of the tour, and there actually has been a sudden change,” she announced in the video. “I thought it was important that you would be the first to know my husband and I are planning our family, so I’m going to have to delay the tour. Please, if you can try to understand that it’s important that I do this now. I have to rest up, doctor’s orders. But I have not forgotten about you. I will continue to tour as soon as I possibly can.”
Contrary to some media reports, ticket refunds are being issued at the point of purchase. Today's statement also said a future date for Jackson at the arena would be booked.
Jackson had previously been booked for two dates at Axis at Planet Hollywood last Oct. 10-11. But on Oct. 1, those dates were taken off the calendar in favor of the announced May 14 show at T-Mobile. At the time, promoters said Jackson was under medical orders to rest her voice.
