Angle is in CD2 special, seeks $150,000 in first quarter, says battling”left wing of the Republican Party”

So Sharron Angle said in a fundraising missive emailed today. Angle had implied the special election is illegitimate but it's clear she's running anyhow.

Here's the solicitation:

Dear Supporter:

As you know, Nevada’s US Senator John Ensign has resigned and Governor Sandoval has appointed my Congressman, Dean Heller, to replace Ensign.

A Special Election must take place in the next 180 days. I must begin to raise money immediately if Republicans intend to hold this seat. Will you make an urgent contribution of $25, $50, $100 or even $250 right now?

When I won the Republican Primary in June of 2010, Harry Reid and his allies outspent me by millions of dollars on attack ads. By the time I had the money to respond, it was too late.

That’s not going to happen again – not with your help.

Instead of more than a year to prepare, I must now raise hundreds of thousands of dollars in just WEEKS. I must do this so WE can set the agenda, not our opponents. Our message will be first to hit the doors of NV-CD 2 and the airwaves and as a team the last to leave it, but only if we can raise money today to prepare for the launch of the special election contest.

The Democrats want this seat. The left wing of the Republican Party wants it more. Instead of an open process - already they are behind closed doors, choosing one of their own to be the preferred candidate in the race. This is exactly why I am running and why I need your help - to put an end to special interest politics! With your urgent contribution, we can make sure that never happens.

Thanks again for your generous support for me last year. Our noble cause fell short, but with your help we can win this race and make our conservative voices heard.

Please make a contribution today. It will make all the difference for our American future!

For the cause,

Sincerely,

Sharron Angle

Republican Candidate, US Congress

Nevada’s 2nd Congressional District

P.S. We need to raise at least $150,000 online this quarter. Will you commit to being one of our first contributors for the special election? With your help we can be ready to fight the good fight!
