In his latest pitch for money as the third quarter deadline approaches Friday, Sen. Dean Heller has decided to lift all pretense he is only running against Rep. Shelley Berkley to take on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. The money line: "In fact, Reid has made my race his pet project; he recruited my opponent and has fully engaged his machine in Nevada to defeat me."
Recruited Berkley? Not exactly. Reid took a long time to warm up to the idea of her candidacy, but now he is all in.
This ratcheting up by Heller against Reid will get him money. And I suppose he believes sticking his thumb in Reid's eye couldn't get him any more engaged than he already is.
We'll soon find out.
