Station begins TV, print campaign to respond to Culinary attempt to unionize

In what is expected to be an extended media rebuttal to Culinary attacks as the union seeks to organize its properties, Station Casinos has commenced a television and print ad campaign to portray the labor giant as hurting Las Vegas tourism and jobs.

The TV and print ads, both posted at right, seek to portray the union as "attacking employers and investors who are trying to create new jobs here." In the print ad in this morning's Las Vegas Review-Journal, the casino company suggests the Culinary methods, which have included assaults on Station directors as well as protests, are "part of a coordinated effort to force Nevadans to give up their right to a secret ballot election." That's a reference to the card check system preferred by the union, which asks workers to sign union approval cards.

The TV ad, featuring a Green Valley Ranch executive, argues the Culinary tactic of trying to dissuade conventions from locating at Station hotels is killing jobs.

This fight is about to escalate.
