Undercard bouts for UFC 101 Declaration were made official today by UFC brass. UFC 101 will take place on Aug. 8 at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia.
The event is headlined by a lightweight championship bout between current champ B.J. Penn and top contender Kenny Florian. The co-main event features middleweight champion Anderson Silva moving up a division to face former world champion Forrest Griffin in a non-title light heavyweight bout.
The undercard features nine fights and four fighters that train in Las Vegas: Amir Sadollah, Johny Hendricks, Matt Riddle and George Sotiropoulos.
Sadollah, a welterweight, is best known as the winner of the seventh season of The Ultimate Fighter. The former TUF contestant holds a perfect 2-0 record in mixed martial arts.
He’ll have his hands full with fellow Las Vegas fighter Hendricks, a former two-time NCAA Division-I All-American wrestler from wrestling powerhouse Oklahoma State.
Riddle was also a TUF contestant during the seventh season of the reality television series. The 23-year-old welterweight built up his MMA knowledge in a homemade gym occupying an extra room in his New York apartment before coming to Las Vegas to train full time.
Lightweight Sotiropoulos has shown a knack for finishing fights. He’s ended both of his UFC bouts early by submission and TKO.
