Vegas Play of the Day: UTEP at New Mexico

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

UTEP at New Mexico, Total Under 61: $550 to win $500 College football gives us a variety of betting options, meaning gamblers don’t have to bet the nationally televised games or matchups pitting top-25 teams.

UTEP at New Mexico is clearly isn’t one of those marquee games. It features two of the worst teams in college football — two teams expected to struggle all season scoring. Last year, UTEP averaged just 20 points per game, and New Mexico averaged 32 points per game. Both teams relying heavily on their rushing games, meaning the clock will be running all game.

I’m not a big fan of playing the under in college games because schools score in spurts. This game, however, won’t feature many surprises. There’s just not enough talent on the field.
