Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point.
Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.
South Florida minus-4.5 against Rutgers: $880 to win $800: Rutgers has lost five of its past six games, including four defeats by double digits and three by 16 or more points. On Tuesday, Rutgers was destroyed 101-69 at Memphis. Rutgers, for all intents and purposes, has thrown in the towel on the season.
South Florida is a different story.
While South Florida and Rutgers have near-identical records and are comparable in certain statistical categories, South Florida is a team with much fight. In its previous home game Jan. 28, South Florida beat SMU by seven points as an 8-point betting underdog. In its next game, South Florida lost by just five points at Cincinnati, a top-10 team. And in its most recent game, South Florida won a close game at Central Florida.
I like South Florida to easily win, continuing Rutgers' streak of double-digit defeats.
Standings: Bern (7-4, $10,490), Brewer (3-5-2, $9,200), Keefer (4-7, $8,517.50)
