Vegas Play of the Day: Florida at Vanderbilt

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point.

Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Vanderbilt plus-8 against Florida: $330 to win $300

This is the only meeting for the SEC foes this season, and Vanderbilt gets it at home. That’s good news for the Commodores, because they would have likely have no chance in this game on the road.

The Commodores may be completely overmatched anyway. Florida hasn’t lost since Dec. 2 and has become a title favorite for many in the national media.

The reasons I’m going with the home underdog are A), I like getting that many points at home. I wouldn’t be shocked if Florida came in and blew Vanderbilt out, but I also think there’s a decent shot the Commodores find a way to keep this one close. That’s because they play pretty good defense and chuck a lot of 3s.

The Commodores aren’t good at hitting those shots — in conference games they rank last in the league at 30.8 percent — but I’ll take a chance on them getting hot against the Gators.
