Los Angeles Angels minus-127 at Houston Astros: $381 to win $300
The Angels are coming off a rough three-game sweep at Oakland, dropping them further behind the Athletics for the AL West lead. Now, they’re looking to get right against the division’s last-place team.
Houston scares me a bit. George Springer can easily change a game with one swing, and recent call-up Jon Singleton will be looking to make a big splash after getting $10 million guaranteed before his first major league at-bat.
Those are concerns, but when I step back and look at the situation, I like the Angels to come out motivated and I like C.J. Wilson, and not just because he’s a member of the fourth-place Hamsterdam Bunnies.
Wilson has allowed three earned runs or fewer in nine of his last 10 starts. On the other side, Astros starter Collin McHugh was solid in a 2-1 loss to the Angels back on May 21 and has had his bright spots this year. Still, I expect Wilson to turn in a solid but not spectacular start that will be good enough to get LA back in the win column.
