We’ve entered the third season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.
Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won the 2015-2016 season, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015. Bern stepped away in the middle of the 2016-2017 season with a 16-12 record and $13,317 bankroll, with Mike Grimala taking his place.
San Francisco Giants minus-160 vs. Colorado Rockies: $800 to win $500
It's still a little too early in the season to have teams figured out, so we have no idea if the Rockies are actually a good team or if their 6-4 start is just an early hot streak. But we do know that San Francisco starter Madison Bumgarner is an ace. He's incredible at home, and he's already in mid-season form (0-1, 0.933 WHIP, 15 innings, 16 strikeouts).
That's enough for me to take the Giants, even though they're 4-6 on the season. I think they'll generate just enough offense against Colorado starter Jon Gray (0-0, 5.79 ERA), and Bumgarner will make it stand up.
Current Standings: Grimala (6-10, $8,425), Keefer (41-35-3, $8,307), Brewer (28-28-1, $7,385), Granger (13-18-1, $6,677)
