Vegas Play of the Day: Utah Jazz at Los Angeles Clippers

We’ve entered the third season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won the 2015-2016 season, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015. Bern stepped away in the middle of the 2016-2017 season with a 16-12 record and $13,317 bankroll, with Mike Grimala taking his place.

Los Angeles Clippers minus-3 vs. Utah Jazz: $330 to win $300

In a complete reversal from earlier this week, the Jazz are now the healthier team in this series. Rudy Gobert is back from injury, and Gordon Hayward is expected to play, despite battling through food poisoning.

Meanwhile, the Clippers have lost Blake Griffin to a foot injury and Austin Rivers still isn’t 100 percent after missing most of the last month. When Gobert went down and the Jazz were dealing with their health issues, the spread moved too far away from them.

They came into game 2 as a 9-point underdog — which was 3.5 more points than the spread in game 1 — and covered in a 99-91 loss. Now the betting market might be making the same mistake with the Clippers.

Los Angeles shouldn’t be getting six less points on the betting line than the last time they played Utah at Staples Center. Griffin is their second-best player, but he's not worth that many points.

He’s also frequently injured, and the Clippers have figured out how to play without him. At times over the last two years, they’ve been more efficient with him off the court.

Chris Paul remains the dominant force in the series and should get the Clippers their third win tonight.

Current Standings: Grimala (8-11, $8,733), Granger (15-18-1, $8,727), Keefer (42-35-3, $8,210), Brewer (29-29-1, $7,485)
