Vegas Play of the Day: Miami Marlins at Atlanta Braves

We’ve entered the fourth season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won back-to-back titles in the 2015-2016 and 2016-17 seasons, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015.

Miami Marlins at Atlanta Braves under 9 runs at Even money: $300 to win $300

Both Braves’ starter Mike Foltynewicz and Marlins’ starter Dan Straily were ineffective in appearances earlier this week. They should get back on track tonight.

Foltynewicz and Straily have played well for the most part this year, especially against each other’s teams. Straily has stymied the Braves twice, while the Marlins haven’t had much more success against Foltynewicz.

Neither offense is in peak form. After inching over .500 last month, the Braves have fallen apart largely from an inability to sustain their run production. All of the Marlins’ runs in a 5-3 loss to the Braves to open the series last night came from a pair of Giancarlo Stanton homeruns.

They can’t count on that every night, and will need to find another way to produce offense. Miami and Atlanta may figure out soon enough, just not tonight against two pitchers who are poised for success.

Current Standings: Granger (4-4, $11,657), Keefer (4-2, $10,795), Grimala (1-1, $10,010), Brewer (3-4, $8,780)
