Vegas Play of the Day: Giants at Padres

We’re entering the fourth season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won back-to-back titles in the 2015-2016 and 2016-17 seasons, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015.

San Diego Padres plus-105 vs. San Francisco Giants: $400 to win $420: The San Diego Padres have one of baseball’s worst records at 57-74. But when the Friars play at home, they are a respectable 33-31. Tonight, they host a team with an even worse record in the Giants (53-80 overall; 22-45 on the road).

And the Giants are starting Matt Moore, who is sports a 5.38 earned run average and 4-12 record. Moore, though, has won his last two starts — allowing oddsmakers to make him a small favorite. That’s great news for Padres backers.

The total is just eight runs, meaning a low-scoring game is expected. Always play the home team, which bats last, in close games.

Current Standings: Keefer (6-3-1, $11,115), Granger (5-6, $11,095), Grimala (2-1, $10,595), Brewer (5-6, $8,740)
