Vegas Play of the Day: San Antonio Spurs at Utah Jazz

We’ve entered the fourth season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won back-to-back titles in the 2015-2016 and 2016-17 seasons, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015.

Utah Jazz plus-3.5 vs. San Antonio Spurs: $330 to win $300

Every statistical study ever employed on NBA home-court advantage comes to the same conclusion: The Jazz have one of the best edges in the league. The Vivint Smart Home Arena is a tough enough place to be under ideal circumstances.

The Spurs do not arrive in Salt Lake City under ideal circumstances. They’re fresh off of playing Wednesday night in Portland, where they eked out a hard-fought 93-91 victory.

The Jazz are also on a back-to-back, but theirs was a tad less arduous. They were done in early in a 107-79 loss at Oklahoma City last night.

It’s typically hard to bet against San Antonio, given the wizardry of Gregg Poppovich. But Utah quietly has one of the better coaches in the league in Quin Snyder. He’s always a solid bet to have his team ready and equipped with a shrewd game plan.

The Spurs are obviously the stronger team, but they’re still easing in Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker after the duo returned from ankle injuries, and the Jazz shouldn’t be getting this many points at home.

Granger (12-9, $12,819), Keefer (16-17-1, $9,611), Brewer (18-17, $9,170), Grimala (8-10, $7,655)
