Florida guard Kenny Boynton (1) gets ahead of Kentucky forward Nerlens Noel (3) after getting possession of the ball and heads down court with teammate Patric Young (4) close behind during the first half of an NCAA college basketball game in Gainesville, Fla., Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013.

We’ve entered the third season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won the 2015-2016 season, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015. Bern stepped away in the middle of the 2016-2017 season with a 16-12 record and $13,317 bankroll, with Mike Grimala taking his place.

South Carolina Gamecocks minus-1.5 vs. Florida Gators, $330 to win $300:

Two SEC teams undefeated in conference play meet on the hardwood this afternoon, and I don’t think the number is big enough for the home favorites.

South Carolina has yet to lose a game with senior Sindarius Thornwell on the court. The guard missed six games due to suspension, but has averaged 18 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals and led the Gamecocks to an 11-0 record otherwise.

Many don’t believe in South Carolina yet, but with a 14-3 record and big non-conference wins over No. 25 Michigan and No. 19 Syracuse it has earned this No. 24 ranking. The team is long, athletic and dedicated on the defensive end. Frank Martin has the Gamecocks ranked eighth in the country in points allowed at only 59.8 per game.

Florida does have good guard play with Kasey Hill and Chris Chiozza but South Carolina’s pressure could give them problems. Unlike South Carolina, the Gators have not played well against top competition. Florida is 0-2 against top-25 teams and lost its rivalry matchup with Florida State in December.

These teams are equally matched, but I’ll lay the 1.5 points with the Gamecocks at home.

Current Standings: Keefer (35-24-2, $12,031), Brewer (21-19-1, $9,655), Grimala (3-3, $9,500), Granger (6-10, $6,400)
