Los Angeles Clippers’ Chris Paul, right, celebrates his 3-point basket with Blake Griffin in the second half in Game 1 of a first-round NBA basketball playoff series against the Portland Trail Blazers, Sunday, April 17, 2016, in Los Angeles. The Clippers won 115-95.

We’re entering the third season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won the 2015-2016 season, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015. Bern stepped away in the middle of the 2016-2017 season with a 16-12 record and $13,317 bankroll, with Mike Grimala taking his place.

No Chris Paul. No Blake Griffin. No bet on the Clippers.

We’ve seen this before. The Clippers can survive, and even thrive, without one of their superstars. They’re destitute missing both of them.

Los Angeles coach Doc Rivers is trying to sell Alan Anderson, Brandon Bass, Mo Speights and Raymond Felton as guys who are ready to play bigger roles and make up for the absences.

No thanks. I’ll take the likes of Karl Anthony-Towns, Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine against that ragtag crew — even if they have been extremely disappointing this season.

The Timberwolves play no defense, which haunts them in what feels like every game. But it’s going to take a while for the Clippers to repair their offense with Paul now joining Griffin on the sidelines.

This might be one night where the Timberwolves’ glaring inefficiency doesn’t kill them. It was less than a week ago that they beat the Thunder and Rockets in back-to-back games.

A victory here should be easier than either of those two upsets.

Current Standings: Keefer (35-24-2, $12,031), Brewer (21-19-1, $9,655), Grimala (3-3, $9,500), Granger (7-10, $6,700)
