The Seattle Mariners’ Kyle Seager hits a home run against the Baltimore Orioles on Friday.

We’ve entered the fourth season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won back-to-back titles in the 2015-2016 and 2016-17 seasons, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015.

Seattle Mariners plus-122 vs. New York Yankees: $300 to win $366

The Yankees have soothed concerns of a post-All Star Break slump after a somewhat slow start by winning the first two games of this series in Seattle. The betting public is now again solidly behind them, adding an unnecessary 10 cents to this line.

New York is better than Seattle, yes, but it’s not reasonable to expect it to go to Safeco Field and win every game. The Yankees seem to have an edge on the mound tonight with Masahiro Tanaka against the Mariners’ Ariel Miranda, but that’s far from a sure thing.

Tanaka hasn’t had the best year, including getting hit pretty hard in each of his last two starts. Miranda has shown some promise, and the Yankees have never hit against him.

It might take some getting used to against Miranda. Let’s hope the Mariners underrated offense can break out for some runs during that span.

They should win tonight and have a chance to salvage a split in the series on Sunday.

Current Standings: Keefer (3-1, $10,729), Granger (3-2, $10,622), Grimala (1-1, $10,010), Brewer (2-2, $10,000)
