We’ve entered the third season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won the 2015-2016 season, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015. Bern stepped away in the middle of the 2016-2017 season with a 16-12 record and $13,317 bankroll, with Mike Grimala taking his place.

Washington Wizards plus-3.5 at Boston Celtics, $550 to win $500:

This has turned into one of the NBA's more interesting under-the-radar rivalries this season, with the Celtics and Wizards building up ample animosity for each other while vying for the East's No. 2 seed. They've split the last two hotly contested head-to-head matchups, which is fitting, because these teams are very evenly matched.

There are a couple factors working in the Celtics' favor tonight, namely home court advantage and the probable return of Isaiah Thomas, who has missed the last two games with a knee injury. But is that enough to lay 3.5 points? Even though Washington has lost three of its last four, I'm not buying that the Celtics can reintegrate Thomas (who may not be 100 percent) and roll tonight.

I expect this game to be physical, intense and a little bit chippy. I also expect it to be close. When that's the case, I advocate taking the 3.5 points and betting on the Wiz.

Current Standings: Grimala (5-8, $9,000), Keefer (39-34-2, $8,381), Brewer (26-26-1, $7,385), Granger (12-15-1, $7,290)
