Vegas Play of the Day: Washington at Kansas City

We’ve entered the fourth season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won back-to-back titles in the 2015-2016 and 2016-17 seasons, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015.

Washington Redskins plus-7 at Kansas City Chiefs: $550 to win $500

The Chiefs are the last undefeated team standing in the NFL, and that seems appropriate. They’ve been far and away the most impressive team so far, and there’s nothing that can take away from their first three performances.

It’s just hard to believe they can keep it up at their current pace. This is basically the same Kansas City team of the last several years, one that’s often been very good but just short of excellent.

There are several times in the league they’re worthy of laying touchdown against; Washington just isn’t one of them. Not only can Washington score with Kansas City, but it also looks capable of getting stops more often than not this year.

The Redskins are in the top 10 in the NFL in sack rate, which spells real trouble for the Chiefs. Kansas City’s offensive line is ravaged with injuries, making it ill-suited to match up with rushers like veteran Ryan Kerrigan and rookie Jonathan Allen.

This might be one of the best Monday Night Football matchups of the year. Expect a close game; take the points.

Current Standings: Granger (6-6, $11,595), Keefer (10-5-1, $11,505), Grimala (4-4, $9,945), Brewer (8-10, $7,780)
