New York Yankees’ Didi Gregorius follows through on an RBI single in front of Boston Red Sox’s Christian Vazquez during the 16th inning of a baseball game in Boston, Saturday, July 15, 2017. The Yankees won 4-1.

We’ve entered the fourth season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won back-to-back titles in the 2015-2016 and 2016-17 seasons, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015.

New York Yankees minus-260 vs. Minnesota Twins: $520 to win $200

The Twins have been a fun little story this season, but they'd need prime Johan Santana on the mound before I'd even think about picking them over the Yankees — at Yankee Stadium, no less — in a do-or-die playoff game.

Anyone who lived through the previous decade will remember how these two teams fare in postseason matchups. They've met four times in the divisional series since 2003, and the Yankees have won all four in tedious, predictable fashion, winning a combined 12 games to Minnesota's measly two. The Twins didn't win more than one game in any series, and they were swept twice.

Now I know what you're thinking: Past performance isn't always indicative of future results. And that's a good point. But I'd feel like a moron if I bet on the Twins to win this game and then had to watch the Yankees dispatch them with another boring, drama-free 8-3 beating.

New York starter Luis Severino is on a roll (2.10 ERA in his last five appearances, with the Yankees winning all five), and Twins pitcher Ervin Santana is no Johan. Give me the Yanks.

Current Standings: Granger (6-6, $11,595), Keefer (10-6-1, $10,955), Grimala (4-4, $9,945), Brewer (8-10, $7,780)
