Vegas Play of the Day: Bears at Packers

Packers-Redskins

Alex Brandon / AP

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers passes the ball Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, during the first half of an NFL wild-card playoff game against the Washington Redskins in Landover, Md.

We’re entering the fourth season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won back-to-back titles in the 2015-2016 and 2016-17 seasons, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015.

Green Bay Packers minus-7 vs. Chicago Bears: $550 to win $500: The Bears rank near the bottom of the NFL in most offensive categories, including passing yards at 183.3 yards per game. I don’t see them hanging with the high-scoring Packers on the road in one of the NFL’s marquee games of the week. Green Bay is going to put on a show.

While the Bears are coming off an impressive win against the Steelers, and the Packers were fortunate they rallied at home to beat the lowly Bengals, that’s not enough incentive to stay away from a Packers bet. Neither is the fact the Packers are one of the league’s worst rushing teams, or the fact Green Bay’s offensive line has been underwhelming.

Aaron Rodgers, one of this generation’s great quarterbacks, is having another solid season — second most passing yards behind Tom Brady. There’s no chance Mike Glennon matches him pass for pass, right?

Current Standings: Keefer (10-5-1, $12,055), Granger (6-6, $11,595), Grimala (4-4, $9,945), Brewer (7-10, $7,280)
