ESPN had no idea of the gift of a game it landed for week 11 when the Monday Night Football schedule came out before the NFL season.

Then again, neither did anyone else. The Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs have taken the NFL by storm heading into their matchup at 5:15 p.m. tomorrow night.

Bettors somewhat saw the Rams coming at least. Los Angeles went off the board before the season tied for the second lowest odds to win the Super Bowl, 10-to-1 at the Westgate Las Vegas Superbook, and with the second smallest win total at over/under 10 victories.

The Rams could hit 10 wins with a victory over the Chiefs, though covers have been more elusive for them recently. Los Angeles hasn’t beaten the point spread in its last three games, and will try to break the streak while laying 3.5 points to Kansas City.

The Chiefs have been the best team in the NFL to bet on at 8-2 against the spread. That speaks to the unforeseen nature of Patrick Mahomes mania.

Kansas City was 30-to-1 to win the Super Bowl coming into the season with an over/under of 8.5 wins, which it surpassed last week. The Chiefs are now plus-450 (risking $1 to win $4.50) to win the Super Bowl, trailing only the Rams — and Saints — at plus-275.

Kansas City at Los Angeles isn’t only the best Monday Night Football game of the year; on paper, it’s one of the best ever. That’s why it’s the game of the week in the Sun’s handicapping contest, meaning each of the three competing sports writers must use one of six weekly wagers off of the South Point betting board on the contest.
