Vegas Play of the Day: Mystics at Lynx

The sixth season of the annual Play of the Day betting competition between the Sun's sports staff is now underway, effective July 1.

Bankrolls start at $10,000 for each of the four participants, with the objective to increase it as much as possible over the next year. The minimum daily wager is $300, with a $200 penalty assessed for failing to place a bet on an assigned day.

Past winners are Case Keefer in 2018-19 and 2017-2018, Ray Brewer in 2016-2017 and 2015-2016, and Taylor Bern in 2014-2015.

Washington Mystics at Minnesota Lynx OVER 162.5, $330 to win $300:

The Mystics are a lot of fun to watch. They have a potential MVP in Elena Delle Donne, who is must-see TV on her own, but the supporting cast around her have helped create the best team in the WNBA. They lead the league with 87.1 points per game, six more than second-place Connecticut.

What's intriguing about the over bet is that Washington still allows quite a few points. The Mystics are middle of the pack with 77.4 points allowed per game, which is enough to cover the over bet. The Lynx score almost that per game (77.3), so that alone is enough to top 162.5.

Look for the points to come in bunches tonight.

Current Standings: Grimala (3-1, $10,425), Emerson (2-4, $8,430), Keefer (2-4, $7,305), Brewer (2-6, $7,200).
