A few teams jockeying for a spot in college football’s inaugural four-team playoff will have a chance to prove themselves next week.
Undefeated Mississippi State, the nation’s No. 1 ranked team, will face its biggest challenge of the season at Alabama. Alabama, who has an 8-1 record and is ranked No. 4, opened today as a minus-7.5 betting favorite at the Wynn.
Second-ranked Florida State, the defending national champions and also undefeated, opened at minus-2 for its highly anticipated game at Miami.
TCU, who is also in contention to be selected for the playoff, is minus-26 next week at Kansas. Oregon and Baylor, two other teams in the playoff mix, don’t play again until Nov. 22.
