Mermaids Casino on Fremont Street is a small casino-bar that offers an assortment of slots and video poker machines and cocktail waitresses who are quick with drinks. Every half hour, a free drawing is held among those in the casino for a chance to spin the wheel and win up to $10,000. It also features a snack bar in the back, the Coney Island, which serves hot dogs, chicken sliders, chicken fingers and taquitos, along with such treats as chocolate-covered bananas and deep fried Twinkies and Oreos. They are open from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Mermaids, like its sister property, La Bayou, is well known for its daiquiris.
