Anthem Authors to Host Holiday Showcase Book Fair December 4

Published on Wed, Nov 7, 2012 (1:54 p.m.)

The Sun City Anthem Authors will hold its Holiday Showcase on December 4 at the Anthem Community Center at 2450 Hampton Road, Henderson from 1:30 – 4:30 pm. The event is open to the public. Books written by members of the group will be offered for sale and a “Meet the Authors” reception is planned with refreshments and door prizes.

Anthem Authors was founded by Helene Moore in 2000. Moore, the author of Behind the Mask, started the group because she wanted to learn how to write. Today the group consists of people like her who write for personal enjoyment or with the intent of being published as well as accomplished writers. “We have a lot of talent in this group, writing everything from memoirs to children’s books to poetry,” said president Richard Wine. The group meets weekly to critique, edit and provide tips and support for one another.

Signed copies of A Vulcan Odyssey, written by actor/author Lawrence Montaigne, a club member, will be available for sale at the fair. Montaigne is best known for his role as Stonn in Star Trek movies.

Club membership is open to anyone living in Sun City Anthem and guests are welcome to visit. Contact incoming president Elaine Stubbs at [email protected] or Mary Ann Unger, incoming vice president, at [email protected] for more information on membership and events.
