Findlay Toyota Sponsors 3rd Annual BCS Challenge Basketball Game at South Point Arena

Published on Thu, Nov 15, 2012 (1:09 p.m.)

Las Vegas, November 13, 2012— In what could be the most exciting match-up in high school basketball this season, the nationally ranked first Findlay Prep Pilots will play the nationally ranked seventh Bishop Gorman Gaels, on Saturday, January 7, 2013 at the South Point Arena at 8 p.m. The BCS (Big City Showdown) is an annual game played between two of Las Vegas’ premier high school basketball teams, Findlay Prep and Bishop Gorman.

Todd Simon, the new Head Coach of the Findlay Prep Pilots, had this to say, “This is the game our players look forward to most on our schedule. Having a game where every player knows each other creates a rivalry-like atmosphere unseen anywhere else. I get asked about this game more than any other on our schedule.” When asked for comment, Grant Rice, entering his eleventh year as Head Coach of the Bishop Gorman Gaels, had this to say, “We start our workout each and every day with this game on our minds. We look forward to the challenge of once again playing the top-ranked Pilots.”

Tickets will go on sale at Findlay Toyota on November 14, 2012. Tickets will become available at the South Point Arena and online on November 15, 2012. It is strongly encouraged to purchase tickets early as this event tends to sell-out quickly. Last year’s event drew a sold-out crowd with an impressive line-up of professional athletes, politicians and entertainers alike.

Findlay Toyota is sponsoring the BCS Challenge to showcase the area’s most talented high school players. Rick Glenn, Marketing Director of Findlay Toyota said, “The BCS Challenge is great because you get to see a match-up between two of the top ranked teams in the country! The competitiveness and skill of these two teams, always makes for an exciting, heart-pounding match-up and offers the Las Vegas Valley the opportunity to see some of the nation’s best talent.”

A bowling tournament will be held in the days leading up to the showdown featuring athletes from the Special Olympics Nevada (SONV) organization as well as the Findlay Prep and Bishop Gorman teams. All proceeds from the game and the bowling tournament will benefit the SONV organization.
There will also be a pre-game viewing party held for the National Championship football game prior to the BCS Challenge. The party will be at the South Point Arena with great food and drinks available. Selected because of its reputation as a favorite among locals, the South Point hosts everything from great concerts to all types of sporting events. Doors open at 5 p.m. with kick-off at 5:30 p.m.
