ONE OF LAS VEGAS’ FIRST COMPANIES NAMED
TOP EMPLOYER OF 2012
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LAS VEGAS (November 27, 2012) - One of Las Vegas’ oldest companies was recently recognized as one of the best places to work by the Southern Nevada Human Resources Association (SNHRA). Cragin & Pike, a locally owned and independent insurance agency, opened in 1909 when Las Vegas was comprised of just 100 dusty acres—two years before the city was officially incorporated. For nearly 103 years, our company has supported the success of countless Southern Nevada businesses and organizations throughout our dynamic and every-changing valley.
Cragin & Pike was named one of the 2012 “Best Places to Work” by the Southern Nevada Human Resources Association (SNHRA). For eleven years, SNHRA has recognized top Southern Nevada employers for innovative employee practices and programs that create superior employee satisfaction and company performance. Fifteen organizations won the award this year divided into five categories based on number of employees. “We’re proud to report that Cragin & Pike won first place in our division of employers with 100 employees or less,” said Cathy Morgan, COO. “Our owners strive to take the best care of our 44 team members. We think of ourselves as a family and because nearly 20% of our team has worked here for more than 15 years—it’s easy to feel this way!”
Founded by the first mayor of Las Vegas, Peter Buol and our namesake Ernie Cragin, a three-term city major, Cragin & Pike is the oldest member of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce. The company provides surety and bonds underwriting, advising and partnership in employee benefit strategies, risk control and loss management services and programs, and personal insurance coverage.
For the twelfth year, Cragin & Pike has earned “Best Practices Agency” status from the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (IIABA). This distinction recognizes the operational excellence of leading firms across the United States based on financial and operational methods. During 2012, only 195 independent agencies retained this honor and we are the only firm honored in Nevada. The IIABA publishes the Best Practices Study each year to highlight the business practices of the “best” agencies and as a template of excellence for other agencies to follow.
