HealthCare Partners Nevada Recognizes Las Vegas Artist at Senior Art Competition
Published on Mon, Jul 8, 2013 (12:36 p.m.)LAS VEGAS (July 8, 2013) – HealthCare Partners Nevada, a leading physician-run network of primary, specialty and urgent care providers in Southern Nevada, recently honored Las Vegas artist Jeffrey Oldham for his entry in the Celebrating Life! 2013 fine arts competition, a statewide event hosted by the Las Vegas Arts Commission that supports senior artists and shares their work with community members.
HealthCare Partners sponsored a monetary award and the Golden Brush Award, which were awarded together to 52-year-old Oldham at the Celebrating Life! 2013 Awards. Oldham received the honor for his painting “As Time Goes By,” which portrays the various paths of life fraught with hardship and love.
“HealthCare Partners is passionate about helping Southern Nevada’s seniors stay healthy and active, and Celebrating Life! demonstrates that people can be just as creative and vital in their later years as when they were younger,” said Shelly Martin, vice president of operations for HealthCare Partners Nevada. “HealthCare Partners is thrilled to be involved with such a beloved community event that recognizes outstanding seniors in our community.”
Oldham, who has worked in the gaming industry for 20 years, is a lifelong artist whose paintings largely focus on conservation issues. After winning the Lifetime Achievement Award at last year’s Celebrating Life! ceremony, Oldham considers HealthCare Partners’ award a vindication of years of honing his skills at the easel.
“It’s a great honor to win HealthCare Partners’ award. It’s very gratifying to know that other people appreciate the work and ideas you’ve put into a painting,” Oldham said. “I believe more organizations should follow HealthCare Partners’ lead to get involved in community events. This event brings so many community members together, and it gives artists a chance to share their work with others. I’m grateful to HealthCare Partners for promoting seniors and art in our area.”
Celebrating Life! has recognized senior artists for 12 consecutive years. The competition, open to Nevada artists 50 and older, encourages seniors to pursue their passions and share their work. Pieces from the competition will be on display at the Charleston Heights Art Center until July 13.
