A 25-year-old man accused of conspiring to rob the El Cortez casino of $38,000 yesterday pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a year in the county jail.
In sentencing Kenneth Glenn Benscoter, who entered a plea of guilty to conspiracy to rob, Dist. Judge Mowbray suspended four months of the sentence with the provision that Benscoter repay the $200.
When arrested in Yosemite National Park, Benscoter had $4,800 in his possession that allegedly was part of the loot from the June 1 casino robbery.
The information charging Benscoter with conspiracy to rob listed two others as alleged co-conspirators, George Earl Hughes, 32, arrested in Long Beach, and a John Walter Ardelyn.
Hughes, returned here from Long Beach, has asked for a preliminary hearing on a charge of robbery and the hearing is slated Aug. 11 at 2:30 p.m. before Justice of the Peace Tom Pursel.
