Westfall Named Acting VP to Succeed Hoover at UNR

Hoover will leave his post at the end of June to become president of the University of Idaho.

Westfall, 54, is the winner of the 1996 Regents' Research Award for being the top researcher in the statewide university system.

"Dr. Westfall has been a member of the faculty and department chair here since 1982 and has done an outstanding job as an administrator and as a teacher," Crowley said in announcing the appointment on Friday.

"I'm confident he will handle the job of acting academic vice president with the same level of professionalism."

He said a national search was underway for a permanent academic vice president and he hopes to have the position filled by early next year.

Idaho's Board of Education unanimously picked Hoover over three other candidates to succeed Elisabeth Zinser, who left Idaho last summer to became chancellor at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
