Rain idles the Stars

TACOMA, Wash. -- The Las Vegas Stars' series opener at Tacoma Thursday night was postponed due to rain and will be made up as part of a doubleheader this evening.

In accordance with Pacific Coast League rules, the two teams will play a pair of seven-inning games, beginning at 6:05 p.m.

Thursday's rainout forces the Stars to play their third doubleheader in 13 days. Las Vegas is 1-3 in doubleheaders this season.

The Stars, 3-8 and riding a four-game losing streak, will send left-hander Glenn Dishman and right-hander Pete Smith to the mound in tonight's twinbill at Cheney Stadium. The Rainiers (8-4) will counter with right-handers Salomon Torres and left-hander Tim Davis.
