Ensign’s tv ads misleading on tax cut for middle class

What a misleading ad.

Instead of a middle-class tax cut, as the ad says, the GOP bill was really a big tax cut for the rich. It cut the tax rate for those in higher brackets and the capital gains tax. Both proposals would heavily benefit the wealthy. In order to be able to call it a middle-class tax cut, the Republicans threw in a tax benefit for families, which benefits a small proportion of the middle-class taxpayers.

It is unfortunate that, in this world of negative ads and sound bites, that a two sentence sound bite can be so misleading.

Meanwhile, President Clinton has been pushing for meaningful tax cuts for all the working, middle-class citizens.

It is time to send Ensign and that pack of GOP freshman back to their fat cat corporations. And send Gingrich back to the college lecture podium as well. Elect some people-minded Democrats who will give Clinton support in giving some real tax benefits to the middle class and us non-rich.
