Clark students land scholarships

Sarah Hutton has been offered a merit-based award of $10,500 for each of four consecutive years at Seattle University, starting in the fall. Hutton is an AMSAT student.

Lirija Derguti has been offered the Harold and Mayme Stocker Scholarship to study engineering at UNLV. The award is $1,100 each semester for 10 semesters.

Kathryn Cooper is a winner of the VFW Post 10057's Certificate of Achievement and cash award.

Lian Roach was offered the Universities Honors Scholarship from the International Consortium program. The maximum of $11,400 per year may be used to study at any of the following institutions: Oxford Brookes University, Royal Holloway at University of London, Kent Institute of Art and Design or the Budapest University of Economic Sciences.

April Cobos, who has been accepted at the University of Portland, was awarded the Holy Cross Scholarship, which is worth $4,500.

Michael Simmons has been offered the Mustang Award for $500 from Southern Methodist University.

Erika Woods' academic scholarship awards from Texas A&M total $33,932. They include the Aggie Spirit Award, a study-abroad stipend, Aggie Spirit Award Supplement, University Scholar Award and the Distinguished Achievement Award.

Lisa Escobar was selected to receive a $750 scholarship from the Las Vegas Rotary Club for UNLV.

Amethist Shajary has been selected for the Georgia-Pacific Corp. Scholarship to be used at Whittier College as a National Merit Scholar. The value is $2,000.

Yan Huang is the recipient of the Nevada Gaming Foundation Educational Excellence Scholarship, valued at $2,000 and renewable. It is for use at UNLV or the University of Nevada, Reno.

DISABILITY CONFERENCE -- Clark Freshman Berry Davis recently attended the Technology and Persons with Disabilities International Conference at California State University, Northridge. He received a full scholarship from the Pacific Telesis Foundation to attend with his parents. He was selected because of his knowledge of technology and its use in various forms of disabilities. Berry is active in Clark's SLAC Club and the signing group, Sign Design.
