Gov. Miller undergoes surgery on right knee

CARSON CITY -- Gov. Bob Miller underwent arthroscopic surgery today to repair injuries to his right knee.

The surgery was done by Dr. Gary Marrone, an orthopedic surgeon, at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas. Hospital spokeswoman Ann Lynch said Miller is "doing real fine" and will go home later today.

The governor, 51, was in good spirits, quipping, "I was advised by my doctor that having surgery at this time may prolong my now lackluster career on the court and also on the golf links."

Miller had gall bladder surgery last year. "Now it's my knee. I guess you could say I have my own program to personally monitor Nevada's health delivery system."
