Residents Around Stratosphere Tower Evicted

Residents of the Paradise Road Apartments are the latest to receive notices, and some say they're not being given enough time to find new living quarters. Residents are being given one to two weeks to move.

Stratosphere has offered $500 in relocation assistance to each of the 125 households in one area being cleared for expansion.

But the offer does not extend to residents of the Paradise Road Apartments.

Stratosphere Executive Vice President Andrew Blumen says the landlord for Paradise Road Apartments, Great Western Hotels, formally agreed to evict the tenants as a condition of the sale. He noted the Paradise Road Apartments are rented on a weekly basis.

Clark County Legal Services scheduled a meeting Tuesday night to talk to residents about the situation.

The Stratosphere Tower, Hotel and Casino is scheduled to open April 30.
