Horse racing rarity: 3-way dead heat at Yakima track

In the Sunday's third race, a trio of $8,000 claimers -- Fly Like A Angel, Allihaveonztheradio and Terri After Five -- all met the wire together after a one-mile race.

The last triple dead heat occurred in 1990 at Arlington Park in Illinois, according to the Daily Racing Form's Racing Manual.

Yakima Meadows officials turned up only one previous triple dead heat on the West Coast. That race was at Hollywood Park, the date unavailable.

In the Yakima Meadows race, Lively Lucy set early fractions in the seven-horse field before giving way. The three winners covered the mile in 1:39 2-5 on a fast track.

The dead heat forced six exacta payoffs.
